I had the same problem as holistic when trying to get the lens unstuck...the lens went back in after tapping the USB pad, but then the picture was all white on Thank you. Since I lost my wife's last camera, this was very bad news. Way to go!
Much better than paying someone to "fix" it... I used my fingernail on the little plastic protector to pull the lens out. A camera owner that suffers this problem may have no recourse for having the camera repaired. This is probably not a lens error, because other things are wrong other than the lens. accumulate at the bottom of the case. now everytine i start the camera it flashes lens error and turns of my camera. the lens wont budge and i dont have a budget to fix this PROBLEM.
Note that even if your camera was produced by another manufacturer, and not Canon, you can still use our instructions to repair the lens error. Turned it on and then off again and the lens cover finally closed.
