Amazing the difference having such sites makes! Usually the answer to that one is it won't print text! As far as I can see (I am no printer repair engineer, so my knowledge is limited) it looks like the perge unit is working. Use some rubber gloves and more towels and blot all excess ink off of the 2 pads where the printhead is normally parked. Canon Ip4000 Printer I see a lot of people bashing Canon, but as long as it's under warranty, they replace it quickly. I think I got it cleared out, but I appreciate your help. As the ip4000 is similar then maybe you will find the wiper unit over there too.

Is there anything a print technician can do for a reasonable price? Ink is water based so a damp rag is all you need to clean. Turn the power on and once the printer does the initial test cycle and comes to a rest, turn the power off. The red color was not printing, even with a new cartridge.

Thanks for any suggestions. I wiped it down a bit to get the gunky ink off of it and it slid right back into place. The green light (green only) blinks, as if it were waiting for data.I tried uninstalling the printer driver (under xp) v1.80 and reinstalling. Replace the ink tanks.

You need to learn how to take care of it. But there seems to have been a third square more sponge like pad also. Now use some warm water to flood each of the pads and see if the water stays or is drained off down through the pads. any ideas appreciated!
Got the 6A00 error when I started it up. This was a quick fix, but undoubtedly would have cost us big $$$$ or a new printer.
